THE LCO METHOD

No doubt you have heard of the LOC method when it comes to hair care routines, but just in case you haven’t, LOC stands for “Liquid, Oil, Cream” and states that a good routine is to first use a leave-in conditioner (liquid), second use a carrier oil like olive oil, avocado oil, argan oil; and lastly apply your favorite curling cream (or any other type of styling cream/butter). This method is brilliant & works for most people, but not us with lo-po problems. Our strands requires us to switch things up by using the “Liquid, Cream, Oil” Method (LCO) instead.

First, use your favorite leave-in conditioner (which we hope is LO-PO PRO!). Leave-in conditioners are a lo-po pro’s best friend because they are packed with moisture-encouraging ingredients (like humectants, oils, and moisture-inducing alcohols). Find your favorite leave-in and apply it to damp hair. Work from the scalp all the way down to your ends with a wide tooth comb (We recommend a wooden comb).

Second, after you’ve applied your leave-in conditioner, proceed with your favorite styling/curling cream. Watch out for your ingredients! Make sure that the products that you buy aren’t too heavy for your protective strands. (STAY AWAY FROM SHEA BUTTER!)

Now, thirdly, apply a lightweight oil generously. It is step one and step three that are the most essential. These two steps are where all the important ingredients are applied. Step One splashes all of the essential ingredients into your tight strands and Step Three locks them in for the long haul.

Find your favorite oil by experimenting with all the different types. Our favorites have been Jojoba Oil and Argan Oil. Experiment experiment experiment! Each oil leaves your hair with a different feeling. Some may not work for you at all. Once you find your ultimate favorite, cherish it! It is now your best friend.
